Welcome from the President of TIIMI 2011

 Dear All,

TIIMI (Temu Ilmiah Internasional Mahasiswa Indonesia) is one the longest running activities run by PPI UK (Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia di UK). This year is the 11th year in running in which TIIMI has been held in the UK. TIIMI provides opportunities for Indonesian scholars all around the world to share their research outcome with an international audience by participating in an academic paper competition.

TIIMI 2011’s theme “Sustaining Renewable Energy in Indonesia: Challenges and Opportunities in Multidisciplinary Perspectives” tries to cover the urgent issue of energy crisis, which is faced by many countries right now. As one of the fastest growing d eveloping economies, Indonesia is faced with the problem of energy shortage. Indonesia has to cope with increasing energy demands from its people and the industry. This year’s theme emphasizes at the viability and the adaptability of the existing and future renewable energy sources in Indonesia. There are many ideas and choices, but how many of those are feasible to be implemented in Indonesia?

This is the question that we are going to discuss in TIIMI 2011. We are inviting all Indonesian scholars and professionals from various backgrounds all over the world to come and join us in TIIMI 2011. By having inputs from different perspectives and different expertise, which includes: engineers, economists, lawyers, politicians, sociologist, entrepreneurs and also government as the policy makers, we are confident that in the long run, the results from TIIMI 2011 will still make a significant impact towards the renewable energy sector in Indonesia.

Our hope from this event, we can bring together as many people as possible, share as much knowledge and experience as possible, and lastly have fun as much as possible. I would like to thank all scholars, professionals, academics, friends and sponsors that have contribute towards making this event possible. I wish that everyone participating would benefit from TIIMI 2011. We are looking forward to see you in London, 2-4th December 2011.

Warmest Regards,
Kevin S. Widjaja
President of TIIMI 2011 PPI UK
