Have you got what it takes to track down and interview Wayne Rooney?

Journalism students at one of the UK’s most well respected schools of journalism, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) have competed with the best when it comes to scooping big interviews and breaking exclusive news stories.

LJMU has an unrivalled reputation for training in the fields of media, broadcast and journalism. The university’s Screen School has trained and mentored journalists for 20 years and many of its graduates have gone on to work for national newspapers, magazines, broadcasters and find work in other areas such as public relations.

Every journalism student at LJMU is encouraged to find the next big story, research it, arrange interviews and publish on the university’s dedicated journalism student website, Liverpool Life: jmu-journalism.org.uk.
Students working on the student website have scooped big interviews and exclusive stories; such as with Manchester United and England striker, Wayne Rooney.

Getting involved in the Liverpool Life website gives students the experience of live broadcasting, editing and publishing news and features, providing them with a solid record of published work – particularly useful for job applications and interviews.

LJMU’s BA (Hons) International Journalism is designed for students who are interested in the dynamic change in today’s world and intend to work as journalists in an international environment such as online platforms or global media networks.

For people who are interested in travelling, working abroad and reporting from different parts of the world, or if you intend to write and report from home, but for an international audience on the internet or on more traditional platforms, this is the course for you.

International Journalism provides students with the chance to develop an understanding of the practice of journalism through knowledge of critical theory as well as day-to-day journalism. The course is highly practical and students will learn how to construct news stories, features, reviews and other journalistic artefacts not only in print, but also in broadcasting and online.

Who will be teaching you?

The journalism teaching team all possess extensive experience as working journalists from a range of backgrounds. Each tutor is committed to student career development and aims to prepare you for a number of different careers within the world of journalism.
Many staff are experienced journalists as well as well-known researchers or authors in the field of journalism. They publish widely, both nationally and internationally, and are able to bring the fruits of that research and experience to their teaching.
